About the Mission

Drug-Free Maharashtra is a whole-of-government mission that unites enforcement, prevention, treatment and coordination across 40 departments and agencies, down to all 36 District NCORDs — aligned to the national Drug-Free India 2026-29 goal.

The four pillars

Supply Reduction

Disrupt production, trafficking and sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances through intelligence-led enforcement, destruction of illicit cultivation, control of precursor chemicals and prosecution under the NDPS Act.

Demand Reduction

Prevent initiation of drug use through awareness, preventive education in schools and colleges, community outreach, Masters Volunteers and engagement of youth, women and vulnerable groups.

Treatment & Rehabilitation

Provide accessible treatment, counselling, de-addiction, opioid substitution and rehabilitation services, and reintegrate recovered persons through skilling and livelihood support.

Coordination & Governance

Whole-of-government coordination across departments and tiers (Apex / Executive / State / District NCORD), data-driven monitoring, inter-agency intelligence sharing and convergence of schemes toward the Drug-Free India 2026-29 goal.
